Case Study: Anti-UV Masterbatch for Construction Protective Film in Central Europe

Construction protective films supplied to the Central European market face a demanding service profile: the film must survive a full year of outdoor light exposure while protecting glass and surfaces during transport and installation. We recently delivered a custom anti-UV masterbatch solution for exactly this application.

Client requirements

Three requirements defined the project. First, the film had to remain weatherable and intact through 1 year of outdoor exposure in Central Europe without breakage. Second, after the film was peeled off the glass there must be no adhesive residue, and the anti-UV components must not migrate out and contaminate the glass surface. Third, adding the anti-UV masterbatch must not weaken the adhesive layer's tack, and the solution had to fit the existing three-layer co-extrusion process without destabilizing the product structure.

Our solution

Based on these core requirements and the product's characteristics, we tailored an exclusive anti-UV formulation, matched to the compatibility of the adhesive layer and the PE substrate, and added at a fixed ratio in all three layers of the film, including the adhesive layer.

The results

The custom solution kept the protective film fully intact through 1 year of Central European outdoor service. After use, the glass showed no adhesive residue, and the anti-UV components neither migrated out nor contaminated the surface; the adhesive layer's tack showed no decay and the film stayed firmly bonded. At the same time the masterbatch proved compatible with every layer's material and dropped straight into the existing three-layer co-extrusion line, so the customer could start production without process changes. Performance remained stable throughout, with no adverse issues — fully meeting the customer's requirements.
